Where
We
Started
Our journey began in 2019 with a simple ticketing app, and the discovery that you can do literally anything with a commandline and a desire to learn. Since that day, our passion and determination to build a platform that 'does business right' has only grown with each passing year.
The web development market is saturated with companies promoting their "Revolutionary" systems, filled with endless features and an overwhelming number of bells and whistles. We believe this approach causes people to lose sight of the ultimate goal: to help businesses improve in whatever it is that they're doing. While simplicity isn't always the answer, unnecessary complexity rarely is.
Our philosophy centers on creating platforms and tools that do precisely what you need them to do, all while housed in elegant, purpose-built shells that directly address your specific needs, rather than overwhelming you with features you'll never use.
Where
We
Are
We don't believe in a one-size-fits-all strategy. As a Cherokee and Woman-Owned company, we fervently believe that every individual is unique, and by extension, every company is unique. Using a series of templates to create websites for businesses takes away from who that person or business truly is. We make each site from scratch, and devote time and resources toward promoting a real-time picture of who that business truly is, and what they represent.
We also believe in an 'up front' service model. What does that mean in English? It means that we don't have any hidden fees, or additional charges that can't be viewed pre-checkout. We charge you once for the initial build-out of the site, and the monthly hosting fee. You can rest assured that there won't be any price-hikes in the future, because everybody hates to pay more for the same exact service.
We understand that, even with a perfect site, it won't be perfect forever, so we include regular security updates and best-practices patches in our regular service model.
Change is inevitable, and you'll probably want to update things on your site at some point or another. We have a comprehensive ticketing system built into the HLA site, so you can request, view, and proof the requested changes all from the same place. We don't like going to other sites, or using other platforms to perform basic functions that should all be available from one place. The HLA site is truly a work-horse website that handles everything from A-Z. All the basic stuff like billing, updating your information, or checking on an open ticket, but also analytics, site security and continuity, and updates.
In the age where data and information is a currency, the idea of using external services to power the HLA backend never sat well with us. Because of this, we are proud to be able to say that every piece of data that is in the HLA purview is completely and entirely housed within the HLA ecosystem. Everything was built from scratch, from the ground up, to the last minute detail. And even if it isn't flashy or noticeable, it is something that we are very proud of.
Where
We're
Going
While we'd love to say that HLA has huge plans, and wants to take the world by storm, we realize this would be an unrealistic expectation to hold. We started small, and think putting our energy behind improving what we already have should be the priority.
What does that look like in practice? Well, a few things. HLA will never raise its prices. Ever. We think that we fill a good niche, and our pricing model is robust enough that we won't ever have to raise them. We also care about more than just the cash.
Does that mean that we want to stay in the same place, or don't want to improve? Hell no! HLA does only one thing, but we do it really well, and because of that, we don't have to worry about reaching the next big milestone, because we're already there. We want to iteratively improve our systems and workflows to keep doing what we do better than anyone else: providing high quality systems, with the best pricing on the market, with the best customer service.
As for actual goals, we want to improve things like our user interfaces and user experiences, adding visual tools to our site to help folks better understand what it is that we do. We have a great system of implementation already, but adapting with the times is key.
AI is a big one. We are firmly against the use of AI at HLA, and do our best to limit what scrapers and agents are able to glean or pull from the sites that we built. Currently our largest initiative on the backend is to completely eliminate any AI agent, scraper, or tool from pulling back any data from our sites by Q4 of 2025. A change that isn't very visible, but is completely necessary in our eyes. One of the many things we do differently than any other web dev company.
